National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) has received applications for the amendment of licence conditions from Sasol Gas (Pty) Ltd and for a trading licence from DNG Energy (Pty) Ltd. According to the statement seen by this publication, the application is submitted in terms of section 21(1)(p) of the Gas Act, (Act No. 48 of 2001).
Among others, the applications will address the following:
- Trading in gas in the Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga and Western Cape Provinces.
- The construction of a gas transmission facility in Boksburg in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality in the Gauteng Province, and
- Licence to construct a gas distribution facility in the Benoni area of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan municipality.

In a statement, NERSA said it is “currently considering the applications and is providing members of the public and stakeholders with the opportunity to make written or oral presentations before it makes the decision on the applications.”
NERSA’s mandate is to regulate the electricity, piped-gas and petroleum pipelines industries in terms of the Electricity Regulation Act, the Gas Act and the Petroleum Pipelines Act.
